Lilburn Elementary Named a Georgia School of Excellence for 2006
The faculty and staff and students of Lilburn Elementary got some great news earlier this year when state School Superintendent Kathy Cox announced that the school was the Georgia School of Excellence (SOE) for Congressional District 13, one of 20 schools in the state recognized this year. Lilburn ES was selected for showing the greatest gains for student achievement in reading/language arts and math over three years. The honor reflects Lilburn students’ performance on the state’s Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests (CRCT), administered each spring.
“This recognition is a tribute to our staff and students,” says Lilburn ES Principal Jackie Beasley. “Our Local School Plan for Improvement (LSPI) has provided a process for continual improvements in student achievement. We focused on a collaborative, school-based improvement team, empowered to select instructional strategies based on a careful and ongoing review of the data. We are elated that strategic use of these tools, in the hands of dedicated and skilled professionals, produced such great gains in student learning.”
