Wells Cathedral has many interesting things on the inside and on the outside. The west front has about 300 medieval statues. Many of the figures and their niches were painted and gilded. The west front has two towers. The middle of the west front has a finial on the top. The front door of the cathedral is a Gothic arch. The windows are also Gothic arches. There is a tower right in the middle of the cathedral. On the side of the towers are many statues. Even though Wells Cathedral has a tower,it is more flat than having a definite point. There are columns inside Wells Cathedral which are decorated at the capitals with little men. The ceiling has different types of patterns and designs. As in most Gothic cathedrals there is a vault. Wells Cathedral has a Groin Vault. The Groin Vault has crisscross patterns. Wells Cathedral also has an old clock. The clock is an astronomical clock. Some parts of the clock date back to 1386 and 1392, but they were replaced in the 19th century. It was soon moved to the Science Museum in London.
