Wells Cathedral is located in Wells, Somerset, England. Even though
it is mostly English Gothic, there are parts that date back to the
10th century. You can see some of these foundations today located in the
cloisters. The structure standing today began under the control of Bishop
Reginald de Bohun, who later died in 1191. Wells Cathedral was built
between the late 12th and early 13th centuries. The nave and the transept
are excellent pieces of early English style architecture. Bishop Reginald
de Bohun found the church at a very damaged state. After that the Bishop
was sent to Bath in 1088. Reginald de Bohun restored the Wells Cathedral
to it's beautiful and original state. He also made Wells Cathedral a perfect
example of English Gothic architecture.
