Ellen Ochoa is the world's first Hispanic female astronaut! She was born on May 10,1958 in Los Angeles, California, and grew up in a town named La Mesa. She is a master at science and loves playing the flute. Graduate from San Diego State University in 1980, after college she started working at Sandia National Laboratories in New Mexico. After that job she started her work at the Ames Research Center designing all sorts of computer systems. At Ames Research Center Ellen Ochoa supervised 35 scientists and engineers.
Also all her skills gained her admission to NASA's National Programming 1990. You guys must be wondering what NASA stands for, well NASA stands for National Aeronautics and Space Administration. She flew her first spa
ce shuttle on 1998. By 2002 she had flown on four space shuttle flights. On 2002, she became a Deputy Director of Flight Crew Operations at Johnson. A popular speaker often tells many groups and students of all ages about her experiences she had or has as an astronaut. Ellen Ochoa once operated a robotic arm to move equipment around.
Before Dr. Ellen Ochoa was an astronaut, Sally Ride (first woman astronaut in United States) was her role model. Whenever Ellen Ochoa is in space she always says " I love looking out the window of Earth." The most amount of time she had logged was 978 hours! These days 27 members of NASA's  Research Center are female and 7  members are Hispanic. Some of Ellen Ochoa's awards include NASA's Exceptional Service Medal (1997) and Outstanding Leadership Medal (1995) and the last is Space Flight Medals (2002, 1999, 1994, and 1993).
All her technical work or assignments have included flight software and computer hardware development and robotics development, testing, and training. Besides being an astronaut, engineer, and researcher Ellen Ochoa has also become a classical flutist. She is now a role model for others to follow to be an amazing astronaut. I'd like to put Ellen Ochoa on Time Magazine's front cover because she is a very well known and a very well rounded woman.
