Summer staff development registration began yesterday. Here is a link to a spreadsheet for eClass classes. When you find one you like, find the course number and then go to PD&E and search by course number. There are a lot of good ones about the new Daylight etc.
Here is a google slide presentation that lets you see the types of classes offered and the course information. Both have the same information, just in different forms.
If you are looking for other types of classes, the original online document can help you find the classes.
Don't wait too long before registering because classes are filling up!
Remember that tomorrow you should be printing progress reports and sending them home on Thursday. Here are the directions for printing the reports. You will print them, no one else has access to print these reports since they are printed from the gradebook. If you have problems, please let us know.
You don't want to miss out on all of the fun next Wednesday. Please be sure to sign up to volunteer in an area and come have fun while the kids explore new areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. At 7:50 pm they will host Starry Night which will have an astronomer here with telescopes. How cool is that?! One of the stations will have the iPads where the kids can do Quiver as well as Osmo Newton and hopefully Coding with Awbie too!. Come join the fun!
Are you on Twitter? Want to interact with other great Gwinnett teachers? Each Wednesday night at 8:00 pm there is a Twitter chat. This week's topic is Literacy Chat: Does tech help or hurt? Hop on a device and join the conversation!
Have you had bitlocker installed on your teacher laptop? If not, please make sure to sign up for a slot in the schedule. Be sure to arrive at teh very beginning of the hour slot. John would like to have these finished by Spring Break. There will be a "drop dead date" that if they haven't had bitlocker installed, they will no longer be allowed on the GCPS network. Don't get caught in a bind.
As you reflect on the numbers and all the rest of the information shared this am, don't forget to post any questions on the padlet so Guerlene can pass them along to those that have the information to answer the questions.
Registration will begin after Spring Break and more information will be available next week, but there is a video promotion to give you the overview details. And remember, there are some Lilburn teachers presenting too! Here is a video of the keynote speaker for this year. He is definitely not your "usual" elementary principal. I'm sure he will share inspiring words to make us all rethink how we "do school".
Today a teacher came worried she had lost all of her documents because the computer didn't boot as it should have. Fortunately we fixed the problem, but a good peace of mind is to make sure you are backing up all of your documents. With Google File Stream you can have access to My Drive AND Team Drives as a folder on your local computer. File Stream is only for managed domains like lilburnes.org. If you have a personal gmail account you need to use Back up & Sync for that, and yes, they can both run on the computer at the same time:-) This will allow you to have all of your files in the designated folder on your computer and it will automatically sync to Google in the cloud. You can go to any other computer to access those files, even if they are not native Google files like docs, sheets or slides. Let me know if you need help setting these up. They are county approved and super simple.
