Remember that SPGs start on Monday. Although we call them SPGs, when you look for them in schoolnet, they will still be DAs. Be sure to look up your codes ahead of time, even for the fine arts tests. If you need help, please see Keri or Deb. Also remember that the scores on the regular subjects of Math, LA, Science and Social Studies need to go in the grade book under the district assessment category that is worth 5% of the grade. Please put them in as soon as you take them.
Monday, May 7, the end of term window opens. That means that you will be able to begin the process of adding comments and work habits in the grade book. You also must add an appropriate promotion comment for next year as one of the two comments. Be sure to put the promotion comment in the conduct comment. They county has created new Job Aides for the end of year report card procedures.. Grades should be in by end of day Wednesday, May 176 (If you are doing DAs on 17th and 18th, please have everything except the last DA entered. You will get the PDF Friday afternoon if you didn't test, or Monday am if you did test on Friday.) We will print on Monday afternoon. If absent Tuesday or Wednesday, we will do reprints after 5th grade promotion ceremony.
End of Term process, 1st - 5th with special information for gifted students
End of Term process for Kindergarten
During your full day planning, Keri or Deb will be assisting you in moving items from the current @lilburnes.org domain to the county domain. At the end of that day, like at 10 pm, the team drive for that grade level will also be moved over to the new domain. So, the day after your RBES planning, you should be able to work completely out of the new domain.
You may have heard that the county has made lots of changes, in a good way, about Google. The bullet points below are from Mary Barbee, Director of Media Services.
1) By July 1 all schools must move to the county domain. (I'm glad we were already moving.)
2) Classroom - Google Classroom will be turned on at the district level. You should have access to this application as of 05/02/2018. If you currently do not have students activated at your school, they will have access to Classroom at the beginning of the 2018-19 school year. (we don't have students activated until next school year.)
3) Email - A process for email is currently being evaluated.
4) Extensions/Apps/Add-ons - The Data Governance Team is currently reviewing a best practice process for the review, testing, and whitelisting of extensions. Once this process has been confirmed, we will share it with local school tech teams.
So, let this put to rest any rumors that Google is going away or that the county doesn't endorse it or that Google has security issues GCPS doesn't like. The Lilburn teachers have done a phenomenal job this year of diving head first into using Google Team Drives for collaborative planning and so much more. You should be proud of how far you have come, and we have so much more we can do.
Next week is Teacher/Educator Appreciation. There are lots of places that have discounts just for teachers, whether only next week, or all year round. Be sure to check out this list from the AJC to see what treats you can have.
Many of you have asked about a username and password to access the site. You can set up your own username and password, or use your google account. That will give you access to all of the "Free" games, and there are plenty. I have a "paid" account that has access to ALL the games, physical and digital, and the digital platform for creating games. If you want that username and password, just send me an email.
