We have known this day would come but didn't know when. As stated before, the county is no longer replacing the DVD/VCR decks in the classrooms. This means that you will need to use IPTV to see the announcements and videos. I know many people think they must have their teacher laptop connected and don't want that, but a student laptop will work just fine. Remember you will find the link to IPTV on the student shared drive just below the folders. Please make sure you can get IPTV to work before you have no other choice.
This is the same information John sent out. Chromebooks are great devices if you are only doing word processing and accessing the web. Think of it as an big tablet with a keyboard. You can only install apps for chrome OS on it, not windows programs, but for kids doing research and writing papers, this is a great choice. Here are the details again. One person can purchase up to 5 Chromebooks. It is hard to beat $110. We are looking forward to purchasing Chromebooks with our Title I Carry Over funds.
Some have asked about Google Drive replacing eClass. That is NOT the case at all. Google is a great integration with eClass. Instead of constantly uploading documents and then re-uploading them when changes are made, put the document on Google Drive and then link to it from eClass. You can even link an to the entire folder. Here are the directions for getting the share link.
It seems that Symbaloo is down more frequently which is causing issues with research and many other tasks. I am slowly working on creating our own button page but until that is complete remember that all the Online research databases can be accessed via a link on your desktop. Look for the Online Research icon on your desktop, double click the icon and scroll to the database you want to use. You may even discover some new databases you didn't know about!
