Remember that DAs begin TOMORROW, Wednesday, December 7 and continue through Tuesday, December 20. Please look at the regular computer schedule on the intranet to see the schedule. If you have scheduling conflicts, please talk to Mr. LaPlume.
Hour of Code is going well. Thank you to all have allowed me to come do lessons in your room. I am having lots of fun and so are the kids. And they are learning too!! If you haven't been able to get signed up for a lesson with robots this week and still want one, later, please use the same link to sign up for a lesson.
Here are some great pictures of classes with robots so far.
Hour of Code is next week, December 5 - 9. Please set aside one hour to do a coding activity with your students to introduce them to computer science basics. This may be just what some of our students need to spark their love for learning. Here are some resources for you:
Code.org website - online and offline activities
Kodable - These are some great basic activities that don't require a computer and are available for K - 5.
Want a lesson with robots in your room? I can come do a lesson with Kibo robots or Dot andDash. Just let me know. Bee bots will be available Wednesday - Friday of that week.
Get Loopy - offline, learn about sequences through song and repeats - super easy, K - 5
Graph Paper Programming - partners instruct each other to draw pictures on graph paper (2 - 5)
Whatever you choose, please allow your students the opportunity to learn a little more about computer science and programming. It is and will be a big part of their future!
As mentioned before, all support staff need to get their grades entered BEFORE leaving for break. Just add the End of Term Grade assignment and we will do the comments and effort wtih everyone else.
Deb and I are going to training tomorrow am to learn about the end of term process. We will try to provide information before break for anyone wanting to get a head start on it, but we will have time the day we come back to do it as well. Here is a video to help you through the process of creating an assignment step by step if you still need it.
You like wordle? Well, Taxedo allows you to put the words in the shape of a graphic. Just type the words, and you can choose from numerous graphics they already have loaded on the site, or you can upload your own graphic. The words will then be in that shape. Only drawback i s you MUST use Internet Explorer for this program since Chrome no longer supports the plugin used on their site. Ask Gine Fodrie. She used it last week for a gift from her class to Mrs. Martin.
