Remember that there is no automatic audio support for your qualifying students when taking the LA DA for 2nd - 5th grades. You will need to check out a password card from Sharon, Russ, Deb or Keri to use with those students. If you want assistance when your class is taking the LA DA, please mark your name yellow on the schedule and Deb or Keri will try to help. Please pay careful attention to make sure there is no more than one yellow slot per time period except on Wednesday, March 14 when there can be 2. On Thursday March 15 both LSTCs will be at a county meeting.
Remember that your mid term grades need to be up to date by Monday, March 12. Progress reports will go home the following week.
The next BYOD day is Friday, March 16. If you haven't already, it is a great suggestion to send to parents to have them download a QR code reader for the devices. This makes it much simpler when you want the students to go to a specific website etc.
Do you have tablets in your classroom? Would you like the students to be able to access Tumble books? Well, there is an app for Tumble Books. Simply download the app on the tablet, then use the username of "gwinnett" and password "gcps" and you should be able to have complete access on the tablets, no logging in! App for Apple and App for Android
Tumble Books is a great resources, but when it is linked in eClass and the kids have to log in, it can be a pain. Thanks to collaboration with another LSTC there is a solution. Log in to TumbleBooks and find the Book ID - the 4 digit number. Then place that number in the place of XXXX in the link below.
Copyable text --> www.tumblebooklibrary.com/auto_login.aspx?bookID=XXXX&U=gwinnett&P=gcps
You can now paste that link wherever you want it for your students to have direct access to a specific book. This is a great way to individualize the learning for your students just like using the leveled readers.
Please remember to sign up to bring your laptop to John to have him install BitLocker. If you do not have this installed before spring break, there is good likelihood your computer will stop working. The county is getting very serious about data encryption. you can find the sign up sheet here or on the Training Page below the Lab Sign-up.
The weather is dipping down this week. Not just this week, but anyime you need a Pick me up, feel free to bring your cup to Lab C storage. There is a single serve coffee brewer and lots of tasty flavors to choose from. There will be a little change box where you can drop in a couple of quarters so I can keep the supply of single cups plentiful. This single serve brewer can handle your travel mugs so come on down. I don't have many spare cups so bring your own:-)
Vicki Aiken is doing a nifty lesson with 1st graders at Graves and Rockbridge. They are using the Polycom teleconferencing to talk between schools and play Guess My Number. The students will have 100 charts and each class will have a number. The kids will ask questions that can be answered with a yes or no until someone guess the correct answer. This is just one fun way to get kids thinking. If you want to do this lesson, or have a similar idea, just let us know and we will be glad to make it happen for you.
