Just a reminder:
- Teachers will print the Summary Progress Reports w/ Category Details by Wednesday, March 15 and turn in to the office to Ms. Varela for copies for files. Originals should be returned to you by Thursday afternoon.
Please check to make sure you have grades for all specials teachers except Counseling. There should be a Math and Science for STEM.
The progress report will most likely be 2 pages. Please be sure to choose the double sided feature when printing on your classroom printer.
- Progress reports will go home on Friday, March 17.
Here are directions for printing the progress reports with category detail.
You may notice a new Team Drive in Google. We will be working to move items there that will help "clean up" the Shared with Me area of your Google Drive. More information will be coming as we roll it out. Here is an online article if you want to read more about Team Drive.
If you are using Google Docs/Drive with your students and would like to easily share a document with them all, please submit a ticket and we will create a class group for you. You can then add the group to the share settings and all students will get the document.
If you have a document you would like to be created as a template so others can find it (like your students), or you want to create a lesson plan template to use each week, follow these easy directions. Please make sure you are careful in the naming convention - use grade level and subject if possible. Currently anyone can create templates but if we find that the files become too numerous or naming conventions aren't followed, we may have to move to "moderated" template creation where they have to be approved.
When you leave the room for specials, recess and lunch, please make sure your turn off your projector. These bulbs are expensive ($350) and getting to the end of their life cycle so we need to preserve all the lamp hours possible. If you won't be using the projector for at least 10 minutes, it is best to turn it off.
We are thrilled the laptop carts are being used to much. It is great to see students getting to use technology for their learning. Please remember a few things
* You need to submit a ticket if there is a problem, don't just write it on the sheet. The sheet is for the next person checking it out to know if there is an issue. The tech team doesn't check those sheets on a regular basis.
* Please be sure to TURN OFF all laptops before putting them away.
* Please make sure the power cord is FACING OUT so one can easily see if the laptops are charging (the green dots under the plugs in the picture below.)
Many of you have seen or are getting error messages that Flash Player needs to be update in Chrome. Actually, the plugin needs to be enabled. In a new Chrome browser tab address bar, type: chrome://plugins/ When the page loads look for Adobe Flash Player and make sure there is a check in the box.
You may remember that in the fall, BYOD access was granted to all all staff. That means your phone, your personal laptop or tablet from home etc. can all be used on the GCPS Mobile Network. HOWEVER, students should NOT be logged into a staff device under a staff login. If you have not had a generic account assigned to a personally owned device that is used by students, please submit a ticket.
As for student BYOD, this is by request/permission only. Students' use of their personal devices is based on specific instructional needs and how students’ devices will support those needs. Use of BYOD is a privilege, for instructional use only. Improper use will mean a revocation of these privileges.
Using the school's Wi-Fi network for Internet access, students can access online tools and instructional content in a filtered, safe, and secure environment. And students can demonstrate their learning through use of multi-media.
If you need to use BYOD with student in your classroom, please get the approval from Administration first stating how and when you plan to have a BYOD day, Once approved, use the attached form for parental authorization.
