Interims start on Thursday. October 5. The schedule has been integrated with the regular lab schedule. If there are issues, please talk with Russ. Be sure you have your test ID number before you go to the labs to make the most use of your time. Also, if you write the number on the board, please be sure to erase it immediately after use.
If students click on the eClass icon on the intranet, when they get to the school landing page, they will see the burgundy torch icon. That will take them back to the landing page of the student portal so they can get to the assessment tab. Of course they can also just use Student and pull down to My eClass to log into the student portal as well.

ABCya is free on PCs due to the advertisements, but it requires a subscription for all other devices. Lilburn does not have a subscription for ABCya because we have always accessed it via PC. We will get a quote and see if it is possible to purchase a subscription with rollover funds in January.
As mentioned in last week's Tech Tidbits, the intranet has been redesigned so now all of the student and teacher links are located in eClass, either on the school homepage for students or the training page for staff.
The new symbaloo on the staff training page is designed to give you quick access to places you visit the most. Some are grouped together. The middle graphic below shows you as you click on staff training page, then the diploma icon for curriculum resources, you will then have the choice of the MOCC, SOCC. LOCC & SOAR pages. The right icon below shows you what you will see if you click on the Team Drive tile that has a computer on it.
You will notice some tiles with colors around them. They are grouped to help you find like resources. The green outlined ones are for pages in C & I, the blue outlined ones are the LES schedules and custodial request, the yellow outlined ones are places on the Google Team Drive. If you see a little circle in the upper left corner of a tile, that means it has a group of tiles under that tile.
The Fountas & Pinnell Running Record information in now located under the Balanced Literacy folder. From the Lilburn ES training page, click the Balanced Literacy & Numeracy icon in the yellow area to get there quickly.
In case you misplace the calendar that Sharon sends out each month, all items from that calendar are on the Staff Calendar on the bottom of the training page. If you want to integrate the school Google calendar with your own calendar on your eClass page for parents, do the following:
Log into your google account and go to Calendar
Scroll down to Other Calendars and click on the drop down menu
Choose Calendar by URL
Paste the following link in the box. https://calendar.google.com/calendar/embed?src=gu5oht5fvkm62d9odnk772lv4k%40group.calendar.google.com&ctz=America/New_York
Now go to settings by clicking on the gear in the upper right corner
Click on the name of your calendar
Go to the area that says Embed this Calendar and click on Customize the color, size and other options
On the left choose the box in front of each calendar you want to embed
Choose any other options like Giving a Title, what to show, the default view etc.
For the Width, in eClass the widget sizes are as follows: full width is 930 pixels, 1/2 width is 450. 2/3 is 600 pixels and 1/3 is 300 pixels.
Now click Update HTML in the top center of the page.
Now copy that code to create your new widget in eClass.
It is time to vote on the calendar schedule for 2018-2019 & 2019-2020. Please click the link and choose one of the three options for each year. The link to the calendar options is in the survey.
(Use the magnifying glass with the plus on it to zoom in on the calendars. Also the speaker notes area gives the highlights of the differences.)
Thank you if you turn off your projector when you leave your room. I know you have heard this before. I just wanted to remind you. Last week I saw several projectors on and no one was in the classroom. I have to replace 3 lamps this week. Lamps are expensive. They are typically $400+ per lamp. I got lucky and discovered the vendor below. They will sell us lamps for $327.96 each.
You will notice a new Self Help widget on the LES Communication Center page (Lilburn Training Page). Click on that widget to be taken to a page of the most frequently asked question when using the C & I tool. This is maintained by D2L, the creators of eClass C&I tool.
Grammarly is a Web 2.0 tool used in the classroom or for personal use. It fixes grammatical errors and is easy to use. There are a couple of options for use. Just cut and paste any document or text into Grammarly work space and it will highlight anything that needs to be corrected and gives you the option to correct or leave as it. Once done just cut and paste back to original document. You can also get the grammarly plug-in for Chrome, Safari and Firefox that works with your web-based email and documents.
