iReady should be ready to go for all students in 2nd - 5th grades to take their diagnostic tests in reading and math. Please try to complete those tests by the end of August. The password for students is 2learn. Teachers should log in with GCPS email and the password is Teach2015 for those returning, or password599 for new teachers. If you have some students not able to log in, please send me an e-mail with the student name and student number and I will correct the issue. I am sure some students have been entered in SIS since we sent the file.
Basically, if you need to ask John anything, it needs to be a ticket. If you need mice, headphones, power strips, etc, it is a ticket. If you need a password reset, a student password reset, a computer is running slow, key is missing, printer won't print, program won't open, can't figure out network cords etc., it is a ticket. If you just aren't sure, put in a ticket. We want to provide the best help possible, but there are only two of us and there are nearly 200 of you. Tickets help us stay organized and prioritize the needs, not to mention it is how we get to keep John at Lilburn only. When it comes to items you would ask Keri, please choose to put in a ticket for anything other than lesson planning or poster requests.
You have probably noticed when you log into do attendance you will get a pop up screeen about new students. Hopefully you have clicked OK at the bottom. The problem with the new SIS is that unless you go to each section in the attendance tab and accept all the kids per section, they won't appear in the gradebook automatically. There is a workaround. The attendance grids are set for you to add them to the grid in the order you want them. If you change the grids - per subject - so that they are "Always Alpha Sorted" the kids will be added automatically to the grid and will appear in the gradebook. It still takes overnight for them to appear in the gradebook, but they should appear in attendance the day they are entered in the system once you click the initial screen of new students. In order to change the Alpha Sort, when you see the attendance grid on the home screen, choose Edit, then click Always Alpha Sorted on the right side, then choose save. You will need to do this for each subject under than attendance tab.
Coming soon we will have time together to evaluate some of the Web 2.0 tools on the Quality Plus Teaching Strategies website. In preparation, please view this short lesson including the pre-assessment and the lesson evaluation. You will find the lesson here.
Deb finished moving computers to grades 3 - 5 on Friday. If you are a 3rd - 5th grade REGULAR ED classroom teacher without 6 computers in your classroom, please let me know. If you are missing power to a newly placed laptop, e-mail Deb but if you need headphones etc, put in a ticket.
As new students continue to enroll, they SHOULD be able to take DAs and/or SPGs the day AFTER they enroll/are entered into Synergy. If you are having trouble getting the students into eClass, try their student number as both the username and password, which is the default until it is changed. If that doesn't work, put in a ticket.
Remember assigned lab times start the week of August 29 due to testing.
