The upload for iReady has been sent to them and I am waiting for them to process it and let me know it is ready for use. Hopefully that will happen by the end of the week. Please remember that all 2nd - 5th grade classes are to be using i-Ready on a regular basis since this is what will be used for RTI data. Once the upload is complete, I will let you know when you are ready to begin the diagnostic assessments with your students. (Kindergarten and First Grade I am still working on Reading Eggs and Math Seeds for you.)
We are still in the process of getting computers to their correct locations. Tomorrow we will begin the physical move of computers now that an inventory is complete. Hopefully this will be completed by the end of the week.
John has finished renaming all student laptops. He will be making his rounds to rename desktops in K - 2, teacher laptops and all staff computers. Please remember to have computers plugged into a network cable as much as possible these first couple of weeks after the renaming process. You may want to alternate which ones are plugged in each day etc. so they can all get the updates.
I didn't hear any complaints or issues about attendance yesterday so that is a good thing! Hopefully attendance taking will continue to be an easy task for you.
Below are some questions and answers that has been passed to the LSTCs. Hopefully they will be helpful for you as well. I am still working on answering a few more for you and will update them as information becomes available. Please feel free to e-mail me with any questions as you learn the new system.
Can teachers enter note about absence? (i.e. Dr Appt)
Not at this time, the office will have to do that.
Does the "Hide in portal" option under Enter Scores hide the entire assignment or just the grade?
The assignment does not show up at all for that student.
Comments and Public Notes can be added from Enter Scores. These will show up in the portal.
They will also show up in your gradebook if you mark Show Comment Codes in Options.
Will 1st grade assignments and scores show up in Portal now?
No, K and 1st will not show up in the Parent Portal.
When will scores show up in the portal?
It is technically live, but because scores have to be pushed through our portal, it will usually be 24 hours, give or take.
Can you copy a co-teacher on an email to the class?
No, but you can BCC yourself and forward that email to the co-teacher.
Can you email weekly progress reports home?
Information about progress reports will be shared at a future date.
Why are some students only showing up in my Conduct section and not in my other classes in the gradebook?
Although the system is all technically the same system, Conduct will show up the same day as they have been entered in the program from the front office, but it takes over night for them to show in the other classes (So they think right now.)
Assessments in the labs should be finished by Friday, August 26 so regular lab assigned times will begin on Monday, August 29.
Plickers is a way of quickly assessing your students without them needing a device. You create an account on the website and they have cards with unique codes on them. You ask a question or project it on the screen, then the students shows the card for the answer they choose. You then use your phone to scan the cards the students are holding up and you get instant results in a nice graphical format. Check out their FAQ's here.
1. Complete the online form.
2. Wait for approval from administration.
3. Put in a ticket with each ID that has been approved for access. In the ticket include first name, last name and ID number of the faculty\staff member or student that wants wireless BYOD access. If you want your entire class to have access, please include in a Word document or spreadsheet the complete name and student ID number for each student. Attach the file to your ticket.
4. Once the process is complete, staff and students will log into the GCPS Mobile network with their ID and password.
